Big Cat reads Mintzy's texts in White Sox ticket saga

TLDR: Mintzy's $400 White Sox ticket mess turned into a full office investigation, and Big Cat read the texts and ruled there was no foul play, just 2 idiots texting.

This started weeks ago on a train. Mintz met a guy who said he had ticket hookups in Chicago and Milwaukee, and he paid $400 for White Sox playoff tickets that never seemed to show up.

White Sox Dave wrote it up at the time. He admitted there was a chance, big or small, that Mintz was getting scammed, and said he'd pay the $400 back himself if the tickets didn't come through before the game. Mintzy didn't think he was being had. His reasoning on VIVA TV was that scammers go quiet, and this guy just kept texting.

“I've been scammed before in life and people are always radio silent when you're getting scammed. And this dude's like texting me a ton.” – Mintzy

Then it came back on Sunday. During the NFL watch stream the hosts gave an update on the $400, and Dave, who'd been on the hook to cover it, posted the clip with an accusation attached.

By Monday the office was running it like a trial. Mintzy gave his side of the story to Danny Conrad, Dave and Ohio's Tate. All 3 of them wanted the same thing from him, and it was the thing he didn't seem to want to hand over: the text messages with the guy.

The Yak spent a segment going through the evidence and the timeline, and the skeptics kept asking the obvious question. If the story was true, why not show the texts? To be fair, this is a man who once picked a dirt bike as a sign of trust in a stranger he met on a train.

So it went to Big Cat. He took the phone, read the whole thread, and came back on the show with a ruling. There was no grand conspiracy. It was just a lot of texts between 2 idiots, and that's about the most Barstool ending this could have had.

Mintzy didn't come out of the day completely empty-handed, either. Separately from the tickets, Dave had bet him $100 that he wouldn't get his room comped last weekend. Mintzy got the room comped, and Dave posted proof that he paid.

So Mintzy is up $100 on Dave and still down $400 on the train guy, unless Dave keeps his promise and covers it. The case is officially closed. But the texts haven't been made public, and the office probably won't let this one go for a while.
