Junior Caminero homer guts Dom and OhioTate in the Cave

TLDR: Junior Caminero's 7th-inning homer and Yandy Diaz's 8th-inning dagger finished the Guardians 7-3 in ALCS Game 6, and OhioTate, Dom and Mad Dog sweated every pitch of it live in the Cave.

Cleveland came into Monday night down 3-2 in the series, so it was do or die. OhioTate, Dom and Mad Dog set up in the Barstool Gambling Cave to ride it out, bat in hand. The pain started early.

Guards had 1st and 2nd nobody out They dont score

That was the night in one sequence. The Guardians kept getting guys on base and kept giving the outs right back, and the couch got quieter every inning. Cleveland did eventually push a run across, but by the bottom of the 7th the Rays were up 3-1 and the room had gone into full survival mode.

Then Dom said the thing you never say out loud. He wondered how brutal it would be if the Rays tacked on more, and Junior Caminero hit the next pitch off the left-field foul pole for a 2-run homer. It was his first career postseason home run, and it made it 5-1.

Dom: “this would be brutal” *Junior Caminero immediately homers* Silencer from the Rays

Cleveland wasn't quite done. In the 8th the Guardians drew a pair of walks, forced in 2 runs and got it to 5-3, and for about 5 minutes the Cave believed again. Then the rally died with the tying runs stranded, and the Rays came right back in the bottom half.

Yandy Diaz turned on Hunter Gaddis and hit a no-doubt 2-run shot that shook Tropicana Field. That made it 7-3, the 4-run cushion held, and Tampa Bay closed out the series 4 games to 2.

DIAZ 2-RUN SHOT RAYS GET INSURANCE

Once the last out landed, the sports part went away and something heavier took over. OhioTate, who had been posting through every stranded runner and every foul pop-up, logged off for the night with this.

Super sad ending. Personally, the #1 wish I have while my Dad is still around is for Cleveland to win a World Series. The Indians now Guardians bring our family together every year. Professionally, I have been working diligently on a plan that I think would’ve fucking CRUSHED.

That's what this franchise does to people. Cleveland is good year after year, gets close, and still hasn't won a World Series since 1948. The Rays head to the World Series against the Brewers. The Cave crew heads into a long winter of "maybe next year", and Tate's fall now rides on the Browns, which is a rough place to be.
