The timing is the whole point. BYU is 6-0 and No. 2 in the AP poll after beating Notre Dame 28-24. Utah is also 6-0, sitting at No. 10. According to the Deseret News, it's the first time the 2 rivals have been in the AP top 10 together. That's exactly the kind of week that has people saying the Big 12 has arrived, and exactly the kind of week Walker likes to push back on. The clip doesn't show which teams or numbers he went through, so take it for what it is: a Monday hot take aimed at a league that's sitting on top of the polls.

This isn't the first time Walker has gone after college football's big picture this month. On the Yak on October 15, he spent a segment complaining that the sport's decision-makers don't care what fans want, and he used conference realignment as his proof.

That's the frame for the Big 12 take, too. Walker has been watching the leagues get reshuffled for years, and he isn't buying that a couple of undefeated starts make the Big 12 the best conference in the sport. And it's not like the old powers are quiet right now. Ohio State won 19-15 at Indiana on Saturday but lost quarterback Julian Sayin to a right shoulder injury in the 4th quarter. Ryan Day says Sayin will miss several weeks, so true freshman Luke Fahey is in line to start October 31 at USC, with Oregon coming to Columbus on November 7.

If Walker wants a fight, BYU fans will give him one. A few hours before the clip went up, Chief was already complaining about how loud the Cougars crowd has gotten online.

So that's who's coming for Walker's mentions. The Big 12 gets its say on the field over the next few weeks. BYU, Utah and the rest of the league's unbeatens have to keep stacking wins, and Ohio State has to get through USC and Oregon without its starting quarterback. If the Big 12 teams are still unbeaten in November and the Buckeyes are limping, Walker is going to get this clip played back to him a lot. If not, it goes down as one of his bold takes that actually hit.
