Barstool can't stop raving about Spider-Man's latest swing

TLDR: Tom Holland's third era as Peter Parker has Barstool's staff going back for seconds, thirds, and two-hour podcasts.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit theaters on July 31, and if Barstool's timelines are any indication, it's not just good — it's the kind of good that sends people back to the theater within 24 hours. Robbie Fox was among the first through the door, and the reaction was instant.

I have liked ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ more, and more since seeing it on Monday. Think majority of people are going to really like it.

Jeff D. Lowe caught an early screening and said the film only got better with time, predicting most people are going to walk out feeling the same way. That kind of slow-burn endorsement carries weight — it's not a knee-jerk hot take, it's someone who let it marinate before co-signing it. Clem, who saw it alongside Robbie, backed that up with his own review: very good, with a post-credits scene that hits right as you're reaching for your coat.

Robbie didn't stop at one viewing. He went back for round 2 the very next night and described a theater buzzing with merch and popcorn buckets everywhere, calling the crowd energy something he hadn't seen in a while. He came away saying he might've liked it even more the second time, with a handful of scenes he was genuinely excited to rewatch alongside another rabid audience.

Back at the movies for #SpiderManBrandNewDay Round 2 and can’t remember the last time the theater was buzzing this much. People are FIRED UP. Merch and popcorn buckets everywhere. I am in heaven.

That enthusiasm turned into content fast. Robbie and Clem sat down for a review podcast that ran nearly 2 hours, which Robbie half-joked was them 'glazing this masterpiece' for the runtime. When it dropped, the pitch was simple: the best Spider-Man movie in a while, covering the action, comedy, cameos and everything in between. Even Barstool's flagship account got in on it, posting that 'the people love Spidey' and calling the franchise the most consistently entertaining one in movies.

The Tom Holland debate is where things get spicy. Robbie went as far as saying anyone who doesn't consider Holland the GOAT Peter Parker after this movie is 'nostalgia blind' — a shot clearly aimed at the Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield diehards who've spent a decade arguing otherwise.

If you don't think Tom Holland is the GOAT Peter Parker after Brand New Day you're simply nostalgia blind

Kenjac chimed in with praise for the supporting cast, calling it a 'murderers row' of performances after a rewatch, and Barstool's Large offered maybe the boldest comparison of the week — putting Brand New Day above Homer's Odyssey in theatrical experience, with Holland, Jon Bernthal and Zendaya all outperforming their work in the earlier film. Frank Fleming took it further, half-joking that the movie was so good it 'killed all future superhero movies' by making everything since look static by comparison. Overkill? Maybe. But when your fan base is out here handing out GOAT titles and benchmarking against Homer, that's the sign of a movie that landed exactly the way Marvel and Sony needed it to.
