Rone wins Surviving Barstool Season 5, fallout still rolling

TLDR: Rone took down Surviving Barstool Season 5, and the friends he beat are still working through it in public.
Rone won Season 5 of Surviving Barstool, and the after-show drama has been almost as entertaining as the finale. Tommy Smokes was reportedly one of four close friends who voted Rone out for a shot at the $250,000 prize, and by his own account he needed a couple days to get over it. "I think in the moment you're allowed to feel like, when 4 of your close friends lie to you out of your favorite game for $250,000, you're allowed to be mad for 2 days. I think that's fair," Tommy said on Yak.

That could've festered into a real beef, but Tommy shut that down himself. "Me and Rone talked for hours that night and a bunch since. We do a show together, are on the same trivia team, talk in the office every day, have been to dinners in the past few months," he wrote, insisting the idea that he's still actively mad is just not true. BFW backed that up on Yak too, drawing a line between Tommy's reaction and how genuinely upset Dana Beers and Marty were about losing $250,000.
Dana and Kelly Keegs, on the other hand, are still very much in it. Kelly posted a blow-by-blow of Dana's exit — stomping his feet, berating the jury, throwing his best friend under the bus over vacations before the final vote, and skipping the wrap party in tears — and contrasted it with how she says she handled her own loss. Dana clapped back within minutes, correcting his finish and pointing out he'd just spent 52 hours holding a golf cart before going home to his wife. The two spent the next hour trading shots on Twitter, ending with Kelly posting a warning that Dana is "on thinner ice than he even knows right now."

Dana is on thinner ice than he even knows right now. Remember: I’m never wrong, just early!
Even Pat weighed in, saying the show has "broken Dana's brain" after Dana reportedly texted him upset about being mentioned during a Surviving recap. Pat's read, and it's hard to argue with: all the drama the season kicked up just proves how well the format worked, personal relationships and all. Elsewhere, Son of a Boy Dad claimed Jon Gruden nearly spoiled the finale live on air — take that one as a locker-room story rather than confirmed fact, since there's no footage backing up the specific claim.
Rone, for his part, has been in victory-lap mode, posting "Spoiler alert. I survived," going live to walk through how he won, and crediting Seasons 22 and 25 of actual Survivor as his blueprint. Even the beef that had nothing to do with him got squashed this week — Dani Jackel and BFW patched things up on camera at a Barstool College Football tailgate, a sign the whole Surviving Barstool ecosystem is settling back down a week after the season ended.
A week out from the finale, the season's real legacy might be this: a Survivor-style show stacked with real coworkers and real friendships turned out to hit different than the actual show ever could. Rone's got the $250,000. Everyone else still has to see each other at the office.
