Barstool reacts to the House of the Dragon Season 3 finale

TLDR: House of the Dragon closed out Season 3 with the Battle of Tumbleton, and Barstool's resident Westeros heads had a lot to unpack.
The dragons finally clashed for real, the war got its bloodiest chapter yet, and Barstool's House of the Dragon contingent came out the other side with a season's worth of takes to unload. Robbie Fox kicked off the recap parade with his Game of Stools breakdown, and from there the timeline turned into a full-blown group therapy session about who rose, who fell, and who should've never been given screen time in the first place.

Gaz summed up the show's whole rocky ride pretty bluntly: he loved the original Game of Thrones, loves Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and has hated 75% of House of the Dragon along the way. But the finale, in his words, ROCKED. That kind of grudging turnaround was the vibe across the board.
The one storyline nobody had patience for anymore was Harrenhal. Kenjac called it a total quality drain on the series, comparing it to the worst stretches of Bran Stark filler and noting the same thing happened to Daemon there last season. Clem went further, dubbing the cursed castle the New York Jets of Westeros — anyone who sets foot in it loses their aura on contact.

My #HouseOfTheDragon movers and shakers STOCK DOWN: - Alys Rivers/Harrenhal. Just a boring time suck on this series which sucks considering there are only 8 eps. Reminds me of the worst of the Bran stuff. - Aemond. Symptomatic of Harrnehal. Same thing happened to Daemon last season. - Alicent Hightower. Got nothing to do this season. Defeated, boring, not getting good use of her minutes.
On the flip side, Kenjac had Ormund Hightower, Big Jon Roxton and, notably, Aegon and Rhaenyra trending up by the finale. That Aegon love wasn't isolated — Gaz declared himself a full convert, ranking Aegon as his No. 1 character and invoking the classic Game of Thrones rule that whoever you hate early you end up rooting for by the end, the way it went with Jaime Lannister and The Hound. Nicky Smokes co-signed instantly, admitting he can't stand Rhaenyra anymore.
Not everyone let the season off easy on the way out, either. Robbie Fox posted a costume bit roasting Season 2 for getting it wrong, playing multiple characters in a split-screen riff rather than delivering an actual GRRM interview — a joke, not breaking news, but it captured the same frustration Kenjac voiced about two straight seasons of Harrenhal isolating one of the show's best characters in a boring 1v1 haunting.

We'll say it: George RR Martin was WRONG about #HouseOfTheDragon this season
The finale reportedly centered on the Battle of Tumbleton, and with that battle in the books, House of the Dragon is done until Season 4, which HBO has pointed toward 2028. That's a long wait to see whether Aegon's redemption arc holds up and whether Harrenhal ever produces a storyline anyone actually wanted.
