Dozen Xtreme: Team Florida vs. the Founding Fathers

TLDR: The Dozen Xtreme: Pro Football Edition returned on September 23 with Team Florida (Steven Cheah, Zac Cornelius, Nicky Smokes) taking on The Founding Fathers (Dana Beers, White Sox Dave, Eddie).
The Dozen has always been a sit-at-the-desk-and-sweat trivia show. The Xtreme version adds a turf field. Pro Football Edition mixes the usual Dozen trivia with physical challenges built around the sport, so you don't just need to know who threw for 4,000 yards in 2011. You also have to carry the ball through a gauntlet of blocking pads with a timer running. The series opened with Match One, and Wednesday night's episode kept it going with 2 teams of Barstool personalities who would not pass an NFL Combine.
The matchup went up an hour before the 7|6c premiere, with Jersey Mike's as the presenting sponsor again. Team Florida is Steven Cheah, Zac Cornelius and Nicky Smokes. Across from them are The Founding Fathers: Dana Beers, White Sox Dave and Eddie. That's 3 guys who have been around the company forever, and on paper it's the veterans against the Florida crew.

The athletic portion is where it gets fun. One clip made the rounds under a caption selling it as a showcase of 'athleticism, awareness and power.' That is very much a joke. A big guy in a blue No. 17 jersey lumbers through the timed obstacle course and grinds through the pads, a -1 penalty graphic pops up mid-run, and then a guy in No. 43 fires a ball at a bullseye target while a helmeted receiver runs a route. It's all love, and it's all a little clumsy, which is the point of the show.

Eddie showing off his athleticism, awareness and power all in a 20 second clip here!
Then it's back to the desks, and the trivia gets brutal. The Jersey Mike's List round asked for the last 30 quarterbacks to throw for 4,000+ yards in a season. Some are easy: Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, Allen, Herbert, Prescott, Stafford. The hard part is the tail end of that list, the guys who had one weird big season and disappeared. Jameis Winston's name showing up on the board tells you how deep this one goes.
Play along at home before you watch. Getting to 20 is respectable. Getting to 30 means you've spent too many Sunday afternoons staring at fantasy box scores. You're not getting the result here, though. Go watch it, because the full episode is up now.
After it aired, Dana Beers was plainly happy with how it came out, calling it a 'very very very fun watch' and of course thanking the sponsor. That's a guy who enjoyed himself, and anyone who has watched Dana at a trivia desk knows that's worth something.

This was so much fun. Just a very very very fun watch and of course shoutout to @jerseymikes
The Xtreme format is a smart change for The Dozen. The trivia still decides who's sharp, and the physical stuff turns guys who talk sports for a living into guys who have to play it for 20 seconds with a clock running. Team Florida against The Founding Fathers is the kind of pairing the format was built for. Watch the full episode, then go try to name 30 quarterbacks without Googling.
