Elio and Murley start Chasing Goals Tour 0-1 in Boston

TLDR: Elio and Matt Murley opened their DraftKings Chasing Goals Tour at Bruins-Rangers on opening night, and a 3-0 game where every goal came late in the 3rd left Elio calling it 0-1.
Elio set the tone for the trip before he even reached Boston, posting from the train with a simple mission statement.
The idea is right there in the name. Elio and Murls, the Spittin' Chiclets betting guy, travel around the NHL, sit in the building, and root for goals instead of for a team. It's a DraftKings-sponsored series, and the merch spells out the whole route. Boston is stop 1, Rangers at Bruins on September 29, and the tour ends at Ice Con on Long Island.

The schedule is loaded with the kind of trips you'd want to do anyway: Lightning at Rangers, Vegas at Pittsburgh, Bruins at Florida, Blues at Carolina, Kings at St. Louis and Sharks at Vegas. Starting in Boston made sense too. It was the Bruins' home opener at TD Garden, and the B's have now won 11 home openers in a row. The only problem is that home openers don't always bring goals, and this one took forever to get going.
For 2 periods and change there was basically nothing to cheer. Jeremy Swayman stopped all 24 Rangers shots, and Boston didn't break through until late in the 3rd. Then Fraser Minten and JJ Peterka scored in a hurry, which is when the crew finally had something to go nuts about, with the clock already under 3 minutes.
Needing 4 goals in under 3 minutes isn't really a sweat. It's a prayer. Mark Kastelic's empty-netter made it 3-0, and that's where it ended. The Bruins get the win. The goal chasers do not.
So the tour starts in a hole, by Elio's own count. The good news is it's night 1 of a long season, and the rest of the stops make it easy to get even. Lightning at Rangers is next on the shirt, and after a 3-goal opener where all the offense came at the very end, it has to be better. Of course, that's exactly what everybody who bets an over says.
