Jordan Love did not repeat his 367-yard day against the Bears. He didn't need to. By that same 17-7 mark he was 13-for-20 for 169 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and Matthew Golden had the touchdown. The thinned Dallas secondary the preview pointed to, playing without Cobie Durant and with Joey Porter Jr. on a bad ankle, never got lit up. Green Bay was efficient, scored on its first 2 quarters and never let the game get loose. Losing Josh Jacobs to the Commissioner's Exempt List one more week didn't matter.
The scoring tells the whole story: 7 in the 1st quarter and 10 in the 2nd for Green Bay, 0 and 0 for Dallas. Down 17 at halftime, the Cowboys finally moved the ball in the 3rd, and Williams punched one in to make it 17-7. They never got closer than that. Green Bay answered with a field goal in each of the last 2 quarters, and Dallas's 6 points in the 4th came too late to change anything.
Dallas was supposed to come in fresh with 3 extra days of rest after the Thursday loss to Tampa, plus CeeDee Lamb cleared and George Pickens back in the WR2 role. None of it turned into points. This is a team that hung 37 on Washington and 34 in Houston, and it now has 16 and 13 in back-to-back losses. The injuries piled up during the game too. KaVontae Turpin was ruled out with a ribs injury, and linebacker Dee Winters was questionable to return with an ankle.
Green Bay's defense was supposed to be the short-handed unit. Parsons was out, and Javon Hargrave and Jonathan Ford went on IR Saturday. Corner Brandon Cisse also left with a neck injury and was questionable to return. It didn't matter. The Packers forced 2 Prescott interceptions and kept Dallas scoreless through the half, which follows the 5-takeaway game against Chicago. Green Bay has now won 3 straight and goes to Detroit at 4-2, where Jacobs is eligible to return. Dallas is 2-4, has lost 2 straight and has some explaining to do.
