Taj Bradley gets the ball for Minnesota looking to build off a win the Twins desperately needed, while Gavin Williams takes the mound for Cleveland trying to make sure Wednesday's meltdown was a blip and not a trend. First pitch is 1:10 PM ET, a getaway-day matinee to close out a four-game set that's already delivered a 13-4 blowout and a wild 10-6 finish.

We took Cleveland at -129 and we're sticking with it — the roster gap between these two clubs is real even with the Twins riding a one-game high. Williams missed bats his last time out even in a loss, and Minnesota's rotation is so banged up that trusting Bradley over a full season is a harder sell than the Twins' one recent win suggests.

Williams has swing-and-miss stuff that showed up big in his last outing — 11 strikeouts against Pittsburgh — but he still walked away with the loss after the Pirates got to him for 5 earned runs. Bradley's last start against the Cubs was rockier: 5 earned runs over 5 innings in a loss. Neither guy is walking into this one hot, which is part of why this series has turned into a slugfest instead of a pitchers' duel.

Cleveland still has the better résumé and sits just a game back in the AL Central, but the roster armor is thinner than the record suggests — losing Angel Martinez to the IL stings for a team trying to hold serve down the stretch. Minnesota's issues run deeper: the pitching depth chart has been gutted, with Pablo Lopez, David Festa, Mick Abel and Connor Prielipp all shelved for extended stretches. That's the backdrop for a series where the games keep swinging both ways at the plate.

Both clubs are stuck in that limbo before the Aug. 3 trade deadline — Cleveland fighting to stay attached to first place, Minnesota trying to prove last year's fire sale didn't leave them without a pulse. The Twins won't be buyers, but a hot week like this one, capped by Wednesday's 10-run outburst, is exactly the kind of thing that keeps a front office from blowing it up twice in two years.

Caratini's knee is the one to watch before lineups drop — he was pulled from Wednesday's game and is listed day-to-day. If he's out, it's one more lineup spot the Twins have to paper over on a day their bullpen is already thin after a bullpen game the day before. Cleveland, for its part, just needs Williams to look more like the guy who struck out 11 than the one who gave up 5 runs doing it.
