Michael King is the kind of arm built to neutralize the noise. A 2.76 ERA, a 3-2 record, and the type of mix that travels — which is good, because the Padres rotation behind him is a disaster area. Yu Darvish, Joe Musgrove, Nick Pivetta, and German Marquez are all on the shelf. King is essentially holding the staff together with duct tape and a changeup.
