This was supposed to be a Tuesday game. Weather pushed it to Thursday afternoon, and now the Mets and Rockies meet at Coors with both rosters held together by athletic tape. New York is 14-22, Colorado is 14-23, and somebody has to leave town feeling slightly less terrible.

The Rockies have dropped 4 of their last 5 and are flirting with their longest skid of the season. The Mets are technically the hot hand here, which says more about Colorado than it does about a team that just got swept around by Anaheim. Carlos Mendoza will take any momentum he can find while waiting on the IL ward to clear out.

Christian Scott gets the ball after a brutal MLB-return start (4 outs, 5 walks) sent him back to Syracuse, then a much cleaner second outing — 5 innings, 8 strikeouts, no walks — bought him another turn. With David Peterson scuffling and Senga still playing catch, this is basically Scott's audition to stick. Jose Quintana, meanwhile, just gave Colorado 6 innings of 1-run ball against the Braves and faces the Mets for the second time in 3 starts after limiting them to a run over 5.1 in late April.

The market still trusts the Mets at -145 despite the Coors total ballooning to 11 at Pinnacle (DK has it down at 9.5 — that's a real disagreement, not a rounding gap). Every EV number on the board is negative, which is the polite way of saying there is no edge here unless you have a strong read on Scott's command holding up at altitude.

Look at the injury card and remember the Mets are running this out without Lindor, Polanco, Luis Robert Jr., Senga and Minter. Colorado is missing Kris Bryant and Ryan Feltner among others. Whoever's left standing in the 8th inning probably wins this thing. Bet accordingly, or better yet, just watch.
