Tyler Phillips (1-1, 1.86) toes the rubber against his former club, opposite Luzardo (5-4, 4.35) for first pitch at 6:40 PM ET. Phillips has bounced between bulk, leverage and starts for an injury-thinned Marlins rotation, and his last outing — 5 scoreless on 70 pitches against Arizona with 5 strikeouts — is exactly the kind of length Miami needs after Monday's flatline.

Miami at +148 is a live dog with Phillips and his 1.86 ERA on the bump against a Phillies lineup that may be without Trea Turner. The price implies under a 40% chance and that feels light given the pitching matchup — there's value taking the Marlins straight up.

The bigger storyline in the building is Trea Turner's right wrist. He took a 96.9 mph Kempner fastball off it in the 6th on Monday and exited; X-rays came back negative and he's listed day-to-day, but he's a real question mark for Tuesday's lineup. Add him to a Phillies injury list that already includes Adolis Garcia on the 60-day and Johan Rojas out for the year, and the lineup behind Harper and Realmuto starts to look pretty thin.

Miami has its own pitching wing of the IL — Eury Perez, Janson Junk, Robby Snelling, Adam Mazur — which is why Phillips keeps getting pushed into different roles. The lineup is doing what it can; the Fish took 2 of 3 from Pittsburgh over the weekend before running into Zack Wheeler's 9-strikeout buzzsaw on Monday. Gabriel Rincones Jr. went deep for his first career hit in that one, which says a lot about how deep Philly is willing to dig right now.

Stylistically, this is a good spot for Luzardo. His fastball still sits in the mid-90s, and Miami's road OPS against lefties is bottom-five in the league. The flip side: Phillips has been a different animal at home than on the road this year, and Citizens Bank Park has not been kind to right-handers leaving stuff up. Whoever wears the wear-down inning first probably decides this.

Phillies sit 39-33 and 3 games up on Miami in the standings, but they've alternated wins and losses for a week. Marlins are 36-37 and have already shown they can hang on the road — they just need to actually put a ball in play against a Philly pitching staff that's allowed 0 runs in two of its last four. Series result probably gets written Tuesday night.
