Webb (2-4, 5.06) draws Michael Lorenzen (2-7, 7.21) in the series opener after missing nearly four weeks with right knee bursitis. His last outing on May 5 against San Diego was ugly — 6 earned in 4 innings on 62 pitches — but that was the knee talking. The track record against Colorado is the more relevant data point.

And it is a brutal one for the Rockies. Webb is 11-3 with a 2.97 ERA in 19 career games against Colorado, the kind of personal house-money number that explains why Pinnacle has the Giants -165 on the moneyline even with their ace coming off the IL. Lorenzen, meanwhile, walks into Coors with a 7.21 ERA and gave up 5 earned in 5 innings his last time out in Arizona.

Colorado has lost 5 straight, just got swept in LA to cap a 1-7 road trip, and was no-hit into the 8th inning Wednesday before Tyler Freeman finally broke it up. They're 20-37 and the schedule didn't do them any favors — Dodgers, then the team whose starter owns them. The Giants aren't exactly steamrolling either after dropping 3 in a row to Arizona at home, but they're getting their guy back.

The injury sheets tell the rest of the story. San Francisco is without Jung Hoo Lee, Heliot Ramos, and a bullpen that's basically been rebuilt around the wreckage — Birdsong had UCL surgery, Rodriguez and Wick are on the 60-day. Colorado is arguably worse off: Kris Bryant still can't do baseball activities, Chase Dollander is shut down 2-3 weeks, Brenton Doyle's oblique is barking, and Jose Quintana just hit the IL with an elbow sprain.

The total sits at 10.5 with the under juiced to +101, which feels honest given Webb's command profile against a lineup that just got dominated by Ohtani and friends. If Webb has anything close to his normal stuff, this is the kind of spot where the Rockies' offense looks completely overmatched. If the knee isn't right, Coors does what Coors does. Pick your poison.
