The injury list is doing Atlanta zero favors. Ronald Acuña Jr. is still a "long way" from coming back per Walt Weiss, Michael Harris II sat Wednesday with a back issue, Sean Murphy is in a splint, and Spencer Strider just got moved to the 60-day IL. Jurickson Profar is gone for the year on the PED suspension. The lineup Pérez is being asked to protect is a shell of what it's supposed to be.

The Giants aren't exactly whole either — Heliot Ramos and Harrison Bader are both on the IL, and Tyler Mahle is still rehabbing — but they're the team playing with house money at 31-43, and they've found a way to put up 7 runs in three straight games against this pitching staff. Whoever is hitting in the middle of that order right now (Arraez very much included) is locked in.
The number to actually fear here is Pérez's 2.90 ERA. Atlanta is desperate to stop the bleeding before this turns into a full-blown June meltdown, and they're rolling out their best available arm to do it. If the Giants are going to walk out of Truist with a 4-0 series win, they'll have earned every inch of it.
