Ryne Nelson (2-3, 4.65) gets the ball for the Diamondbacks coming off a career night — 8 innings of 1-run ball on 103 pitches against the Rockies, his fifth straight quality start. Bryan Woo (4-3, 3.82) counters for Seattle, but his last time out he got bounced in the 5th by Kansas City, charged with 4 earned on 6 hits.

Arizona had won 4 in a row before walking into T-Mobile and losing a 7-6 nailbiter on Friday. They've been one of the better stories in the NL West at 31-25 even with the IL looking like a small village — Corbin Burnes, A.J. Puk, Jordan Lawlar, Justin Martinez, James McCann, all out. If Nelson keeps doing what he's been doing, that rotation hole stops being a hole.

Nolan Arenado is the new wrinkle. He got drilled on the arm by a pitch Friday, came out of the game, and is listed day-to-day with the groin that's been bugging him. Whether he's in the lineup or not changes the look of this Arizona offense in a hurry — and Seattle's bullpen is still working without Cal Raleigh behind the plate.

The market is leaning Seattle. Pinnacle has the Mariners at -149 on the moneyline with a fair probability around 58%, and the run line sits at -1.5 (+149 home / -170 away). The total is a tidy 6.5, juiced to the over at -129. DraftKings handle is split — 86% of spread money is on Seattle -1.5 while 77% of total bets are tickets on the over.

If Nelson is who he's been the last month, this is a live underdog play even on the road. Woo's been giving up loud contact in his recent starts and the D-backs have scored 6+ in 4 of their last 5. Give me Arizona to keep this one close into the late innings.
