Trey Yesavage (5-5, 3.73 ERA) takes the ball for Toronto looking to build on a rookie season that's already turned heads — he's racked up 107 career strikeouts through his first 20 big-league appearances, second-most in Blue Jays history for that stretch. Houston counters with Hayden Wesneski (1-0, 4.76), who's still finding his footing after coming off the 60-day injured list.

Houston's -131 here, and that price is mostly about roster depth — even without Correa, this lineup has been the best in baseball for weeks. Toronto's beat-up rotation and lineup make them live-dog value at plus money, but the safer read is still the Astros getting back on track at home.

The Astros were riding an 6-game winning streak and looked like the best team in the sport before Toronto's bats woke up behind Alejandro Kirk's homer to snap it. Houston's lineup has been humming all series long, but this particular matchup also comes with a wrinkle: Houston picked up outfielder Daulton Varsho from Toronto in a trade for right-hander Spencer Arrighetti, and Varsho made his Astros debut in this very series.

Toronto is well under .500 at 53-60 and shorthanded across the roster — Patrick Corbin, Jose Berrios, Bowden Francis and Cody Ponce are all out of the rotation picture, and the lineup is missing Addison Barger and Anthony Santander too. Somehow the Jays keep finding ways to win series openers against good teams, and they've taken 4 of their last 5.

Houston still sits atop the AL West and has been the class of the league for most of the summer, but Wesneski's ERA says the Astros aren't rolling out an ace tonight. Carlos Correa remains out for the year after ankle surgery, and Brice Matthews is still working his way back from a knee injury, so the lineup Houston runs out isn't its fullest version even with the offense clicking.

Yesavage has been Toronto's best story of a lost season, and if he can keep missing bats the way he has all year, the Blue Jays have a real shot to take the series. Houston's counting on its lineup depth to bail out a shaky starter and get back in the win column after Monday's loss ended their streak.
