Air Force is 5-1 overall. Its only loss was 38-32 at home to North Dakota State, and the offense scored 32 points even in that one. Wyoming is 4-3 and has been less predictable. The Cowboys lost 24-10 at Central Michigan and got shut out 28-0 at North Dakota State. They also won close on the road at San José State and put 41 points on Northern Illinois at home.
Both teams have played North Dakota State and Northern Illinois, so there's something to compare. Air Force scored 32 on the Bison. Wyoming scored 0. Against the Huskies the results were closer: Air Force won 28-7 on the road and Wyoming won 41-23 at home. The NDSU gap is the one to remember. When Wyoming's offense can't get going, it can stay stuck for 4 quarters.
The best thing Wyoming has going is its defensive front. The Cowboys had 4 sacks and 5 tackles for loss at San José State and 9 sacks over that 3-game stretch. Sacks matter less against a team that runs the ball nearly every down, though. What Jay Sawvel's defense really needs is linemen who stay in their gaps and keep the Falcons from breaking big runs on the edge. UNLV couldn't do it for 4 quarters.
Wyoming still has questions at the skill spots. Running back D. Hubbard (knee) and receiver D. DeBlanc (toe) were both listed as questionable going into the Northern Illinois game, and receiver T. Nystrom is out for the season. Weather could matter too. The early forecast for Laramie calls for temperatures in the 40s, possible showers and a steady wind, and that's a forecast that can still change by kickoff. In those conditions, the team that runs the ball better usually decides the game. Both teams know that, and it should be a fast game with a lot of handoffs.
