Dylan Beavers Homers For Third Straight Game As Orioles Rout Rays

Baltimore's rookie right fielder is on a roll, and Pete Alonso made sure it turned into a win over Tampa Bay.

Dylan Beavers, the Orioles' No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, went deep for the third straight game against the Rays, a stretch that's making the 24-year-old impossible to ignore. Beavers was called up to Baltimore last August after slashing.304/.420/.515 with 18 home runs, 51 RBI and 23 stolen bases across 94 games at Triple-A Norfolk, and this run looks like that production finally translating to the show.

Beavers wasn't the only Oriole doing damage. Pete Alonso set the tone almost immediately, going deep just 2 pitches into the game to put Baltimore up early against Tampa Bay starter Peralta.

Took Pete Alonso and the Orioles 2 pitches to get a lead vs the Rays https://t.co/68f8k5NaIH

Alonso wasn't done. He added a 2-run shot later in the game, his 30th of the season, part of a Baltimore attack that overpowered Tampa Bay in a 5-3 win at Camden Yards. Between Alonso's power and Beavers' streak, the Orioles turned what could've been a forgettable late-August game into a showcase for both the veteran slugger and the kid trying to force his way into the everyday lineup.

For Beavers, a 2022 first-round pick out of Cal, the timing matters. Baltimore promoted him last summer specifically to get a look at their young players down the stretch, and stringing together homers in three straight games is exactly the kind of stretch that turns a look into a long-term roster spot.

The Orioles have plenty of reasons to keep running Beavers out there every day, and nights like this against the Rays are only adding to the case. If the power keeps showing up alongside Alonso's, Baltimore's lineup starts looking a lot more dangerous heading into the stretch run.
